Some remarkable statistics from Stephen Roach at Morgan Stanley:"While China and India collectively account for close to 40% of the world’s population, their combined consumption is only about $2.5 trillion. By contrast, while the United States contains only about 4.5% of the world’s population, its annual consumption bill is running at about a $10 trillion rate."
